The Great World of Motocross
So you wanna ride motocross? Well what is? it is is a form of off-road motorcycle racing held on enclosed off-road circuits. Well here is a few things you need to know, first off it is dangerous. and well obviously you're gonna need a dirt-bike. Different ones are for different skill leveled riders. It also depends on how tall you are and how much you weigh on which one you choose. The most common 2 bikes you can get are a 250 and a 450. But the 450 should be for more skilled riders because they have the most power. Then once you have picked your bike you need to go you some motocross gear, such as helmet ,boots ,goggles, neck brace, gloves. These are the essentials for what you'll need.
Well now you need to learn how to ride that bike you just got. I would recommend going to a riding school for a month or two. There they will teach you how to jump take corners and control the bike. It is not something you'll learn over night like with anything else it takes practice. But lets say you got the fundamentals down and you think your ready for your first race. Well now you need to find your local motocross series and race that before you go to the AMA and race. So once you find the series your gonna race then you find out what track they are racing at. Then you go for the practice day (usually the day before the race). And you learn the track your riding on see which lines are better to choose make sure you get the jumps good and then you go home and wait for tomorrow.
Now its race day, It took a lot of practice but your here. Now you gotta resister for a class. they have all different kinds depending on your bike size and skill levels. So you've registered and now you need to wait for your class to get called on. You have two races you have to do they are called moto's. So you need to do the best you can in both races. They just called your class up now your on the the starting line waiting for them to drop the gate to go. You have to do 4 laps in this race. There are 20 other people in your class so you'll need to try your best. But it your first race your not sure how it works so you place 15th overall. Which isn't bad you do not get a trophy but you leaning how it works.
Now you have realized that it is hard and you need to practice more. But you noticed you want more power on your bike or you think it weighs to much so you wanna reduce the weight. So a lot of people solve these problems with aftermarket parts for there bike. You can get different wheels and change out tons of parts with stuff that is lighter. The biggest help with this is an exhaust most aftermarket exhaust and at least 4-5 pounds lighter and they give the engine better airflow so in return you get more power. So one you get finished getting the bike the best it can be in your spec. You then test it out You now try to get comfortable with it tune the suspension and stuff like that. Once you have done this you practice all you can till your next race and just try to stay steadily progressing.
You race all the races in that series and you end up in 5th throughout the whole series so you win an award a huge trophy and sometimes cash. And now you move up to the next higher level class and do the same thing you did the year before just getting better and better until you get a sponsor which they will help you get training, Give you money to fix up your bike and help you get to races or give you free parts. and maybe you get good enough to make a career out of it. And who knows maybe you'll make millions and end up on TV?
